Quick Apply Full-time 3 hours ago Full Job Description Under direct and indirect supervision, the Billing Specialist will manage the revenue cycle for their assigned practice.
The Billing Specialist will be responsible for sending claims, collecting payments, posting insurance payments, and working both patient and insurance accounts receivables.
This position will provide support to both patients and the practices, to ensure best practices and patient care.
The Lead Billing Specialist will assist the Patient Services Manager in the evaluations and performance reviews of Billing Specialist, and distribution of workload and/or changes in protocols.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Standing 5%.
Sitting 95%.
Moderate noise levels from surrounding team members Business office setting Minimum moving requirements of 25 pounds in order to transfer supplies in office after delivery Constant patient and interoffice personnel interaction as this position is heavily dependent on excellent customer interaction.
Exceptional hand dexterity and typing skills to work with standard software programs provided.
Hearing - Must be able to hear telephonic equipment and comfortably communicate with patients and others by telephone and in person.
Near Vision-the ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer) as view the computer screen daily Physically able to climb up and down two flights of stairs multiple times a day as needed RESPONSIBILITIES Excellent computer skills and ability to use practice software systems Exercises discretion and independent judgement regarding coverage and insurance claims and resolves billing disputes with little supervision Review and send out claims daily for accuracy Process insurance payments daily and ensures timely collection from patients and insurers Review patient accounts receivables audit accounts, and send out statements Make collection call and run patient payments Contacts insurance carriers to check on outstanding claims in an efficient and effective manner Perform credit and balances reports daily for the offices Knowledge of Medicaid regulations and guidelines Accurately use insurance portal to check claim status and enter claims Run and complete required reports and complete tasks within given deadline.
Maintain regular attendance and adhere to assigned work schedule and office policies.

chat, email and phone Must always represent the practice and company in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner Learn to operate new office technologies/protocols as they are developed and implemented Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings.
Occasionally there may be some travel, by car or plane, required in order to participate in continuing education or seminars Other duties and tasks, as assigned periodically REQUIREMENTS Always maintain the highest level of confidentiality to HIPAA standards.
Adhere to strict safety guidelines and procedures to OSHA and office standards.
Adhere to all office policies Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain positive rapport with patients and other team members Effective verbal skills to communicate clearly and professionally with patients and staff Must be detail oriented in order to work efficiently Must be flexible and understand that job duties and work schedule may change depending on the needs of the company Must understand basic math and ability to read a patient ledger Must demonstrate active listening by giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Must demonstrate good reading comprehension by understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
